A primary objective of The Copy Center at Crossroads is to provide clients of Crossroads Rhode Island -- including welfare parents and persons with disabilities -- with access to a vocational training and job placement program which trains them for work in the printing industry. Students gain exposure to sophisticated design software and computer equipment, learn to operate both copy machines and an offset press and various types of finishing equipment, including binders, stitchers and trimmers. As a result, the curriculum trains students for a variety of jobs from copy machine operator to pressman to copy shop manager with access to jobs paying from $12 - $18 per hour.

Generous grants from Bank of America, Textron and the Rhode Island Foundation provided seed money for The Copy Center and its training program.
